ANNUAL AWARDS

Enfield - The East Hants Gentlemen's Hockey League held their annual banquet at the Enfield Legion tonight.  As part of the evening's activities the annual awards were presented.

Steve Pottie, Executive Director of the East Hants Sportsplex joined League President, Danny Hines to present the Unsung Hero Award.  This award is presented to a player who demonstrates his pure love for the game and is always there for his team.  He is not necessarily one of the scorers or top players on his respective team.  But he always gives it his best effort game in and game out.  This year's recipient was #33 of the Bitar's Pizza & Grill Bruins - Neil McCorkill.

Tim Isenor joined Danny Hines to present the other individual awards.  The 2006/2007 awards were:

Top Scorer - #10 Ian Currie (Mark Currie Painting No Stars)

Top Goaltender - #1 Roy McNeill (Tremco) accepted by Steve Ramsay on Roy's behalf

Top Defenseman - #8 Ryan Isenor (Caldwell Roach Insurance Kings)

Most Sportsmanlike Player - #5 Jim Gouthro (Benere Contracting Sabres)

Most Valuable Player - Regular Season - #24 John Rhind (Scott Blois Automotive Old Timers)

Most Valuable Player - Playoffs - #1 Layton Gilroy (Scott Blois Automotive Old Timers)

In addition to the presentation on individual awards Tim and Danny presented the championship trophy and the annual $500 cheque to the Scott Blois Automotive Old Timers (2006/2007 Champions).

There was a special presentation done by Danny Hines to recognize the league's number one fan.  She can be seen in the stands for nearly every game that the Bitar's Pizza & Grill Bruins play (plus some other games as well) throughout the season.  Going back over ten years it is estimated that she may have missed a total of ten games.  As an appreciation for her loyalty to the league, Danny presented Mrs. Marion Faulkner with a warm seat cushion to help keep her warm through the next season and seasons to come in the cold rink.  Thank Marion for your loyalty to the league!!
